Trivium is back with the release of their latest album, Vengeance Falls! The album was released on 10/9/2013, via Roadrunner Records, and has received quite mixed reviews from the metal community. Trivium has always been one of my favorite bands, because of the incredible amount of energy that they are able to bring to the table, consisting of lead singer Matt Heafy’s amazing vocal range and ability along with fast pace, hard-hitting, and technical instrumentals. They are also one of the most consistent bands, always putting in hard work into their albums and bringing stunning intensity in the music, whether it’s metalcore, heavy metal, or a mix between the two genres. My favorite album by them, not surprisingly, is Shogun, but I absolutely loved In Waves and Ascendancy as well. Does Vengeance Falls keep up with the quality and technicality from previous Trivium releases? I believe Vengeance Falls to be another awesome addition into the Trivium discography, but I feel like the band did not innovate enough, and there were too many aspects of the album that were reminiscent of their previous works. In Fear and Faith- In Fear and Faith Review
Before I start this review, I would like to apologize for the lack of content on this website; I have been busy with school work and there just haven’t been any awesome albums for me to review. So today, I am going to review an underrated album: In Fear and Faith by In Fear and Faith, so hopefully you guys can learn about this great band and expand your musical horizons. This self-titled album was the third release by the post-hardcore band In Fear and Faith, and it was released on 10/16/2012, via Rise Records. This album is hands-down one of the best post-hardcore albums I have ever heard due to a myriad of different reasons. This band is able to bring much originality to the table, and blends loud, impactful guitars and vocals with soothing orchestra and piano work. With so much talent present in this album, I am surprised that the band has not gained much fame and recognition because of it.
Blessthefall-Hollow Bodies Review
Hollow Bodies is the fourth release from the famous post-hardcore band Blessthefall. It was first released on 8/20/2013, via Fearless records. The band continues to feature Beau Boken as its leads singer, and the lineup hasn’t changed much since the release of Awakening. This was a highly anticipated release, as Blessthefall has established quite a large fanbase in the metalcore/post-hardcore scene. Hollow Bodies definitely does not disappoint, as it is a solid album with many great moments, and is an epic addition to the Blessthefall discography.
Avenged Sevenfold-Hail to the King Review
Hail to the King is the sixth album released by the internationally acclaimed heavy metal band, Avenged Sevenfold. It was released on 8/23/2013 via Warner Brothers, and it featured Arin Ilejey(previously in Confide) on the drums. It has been about three years since the release of Nightmare, and fans of A7X have very high expectations regarding their upcoming album. The single, “Hail to the King”, came out about one month before the album, and I wasn’t a huge fan of it. After listening to the entire album for a few times, I must say that my feelings for the album are a mixed bag: I absolutely enjoyed some songs, but many of the songs were just not my taste, and they are too reminiscent of what other bands have done before. Born of Osiris- Tomorrow We Die ∆live Review
(The letters “A” of the tracks on this album are replaced by the ∆ symbol. However, “A” is used on this review for convenience.)
Tomorrow We Die Alive is the third release from the progressive deathcore band Born of Osiris. It was first released on 8/20/2013, through Sumerian records. Tomorrow We Die Alive is the first album to be published since the departure of their lead guitarist, Jason Richardson, leaving them with only one remaining guitarist, Lee Mckinney. Due to the huge success of their previous album, The Discovery, there were a lot of hype and hopes for this upcoming album, and fans were excited but nervous to audition the BoO without Richardson. I believe Tomorrow We Die Alive is a solid release by Born of Osiris with a lot of great moments, but The Discovery is still a better album overall.
